CAN'T TOUCH MY POEMS

Chloe Arnold

Photography is temporality. The entire fabric of this artform is constantly fleeting; each photo exists, then it’s gone. Fractions of seconds change the outcomes of the photos you take, which is what I love most about this artform. It’s so predictably unpredictable. The curl of a smile, eye contact, the clouds covering the sun, a bird flying through, a person entering the background - you can’t escape the blemishes of reality.

I was originally going to include digital photography in this set, but sometimes digital feels like cheating the unpredictable. You can hold the shutter down and fire, while film takes a special kind of timing, unprepared preparation, and ultimately, a confidence in luck to execute.

These are my favourite fractions of seconds from the past 11 months.
